Road closures for Wesak procession on Saturday

KUALA LUMPUR: Several major roads in the federal capital will be closed in stages from 5pm until 11pm on Saturday for the floats procession in conjunction with Wesak Day.

The celebration involves minor and major processions beginning and ending at the Maha Vihara Temple at Jalan Berhala, Brickfields here.

According to the Royal Malaysia Police facebook, the roads to be closed are Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad, Jalan Tun Sambathan, Jalan Petaling, Jalan Hang Lekiu, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Pudu, and Jalan Cheng Lock.

The website added that the roads would be reopened once the processions had ended.

In addition, road users are advised not to use the affected roads to avoid being caught in traffic congestion. BERNAMA

BBGS, We Pledge to Thee...

OK girls, you'll get to sing the BBGS song to Miss Cooke during the Thanksgiving (Memorial) Service.

According to Miss Cooke's family, the BBGS song will be sung at the beginning of the Thanksgiving service. Recording of the BBGS song will be played as people pay their last respects.

During the Funeral (Farewell) service, the BBGS song will be sung inside the hall as the coffin is wheeled out. It is alright for BBGSians to form a Guard-of-Honour line outside the church. Okay to wear BBGS T-shirts if you are happy doing so.

THANKSGIVING & FAREWELL SERVICES OF THE LATE MISS ELENA COOKE - UPDATES

Being the official BBGS OGA Facebook and blog, it is important that we verify all the facts and get clearance from the relevant people before we post information here.

WREATH
BBGS OGA and BBGS Alumni Berhad will be jointly sending a wreath to the funeral service of the late Miss Cooke to represent our alumnae.

CONDOLENCE AD
We have decided not to place a condolence ad as we know that Miss Cooke would rather have the money spent on sponsoring needy children to pursue further education. But if BBGSians in the media can help us publicise Miss Cooke's story, please pm us or email bbgsoga@gmail.com

DONATIONS
Miss Cooke's family has requested that all donations be channelled to the Elena Cooke Education Fund for needy students.

MISS COOKE HAS LEFT US BUT HER LEGACY SHALL ALWAYS REMAIN WITH BBGSians

Dear BBGSians, Miss Elena M. Cooke, our former headmistress (1958-1977) passed away peacefully at 11.55pm last night (2 May 2012).

Her sister (Auntie Maisie), niece (Helena) and helper (Rose) were with her as she slipped away very peacefully after they had helped her to the bathroom.

MEMORIAL SERVICE
Date: 5 May 2012 (Saturday)
Time: 8pm
Venue: Jalan Imbi Chapel, Kuala Lumpur

FUNERAL SERVICE
Date: 6 May 2012 (Sunday)
Time: 2.30pm
Venue: Jalan Imbi Chapel, Kuala Lumpur, and then proceed to the Cheras Christian Cemetery.

The family requests that all donations to be channelled to the Elena Cooke Education Fund to honour her contributions to BBGS. Cheques are to be made in favour of BBGS Alumni Berhad that has been set up to handle the scholarship fund for needy children.

On 4 August 2009, we were privileged to have Miss Cooke as our guest-of-honour at the BACK2BBGS Reunion at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. As Miss Cooke dedicated her entire life to building our school, the BBGS OGA, and BBGS Alumni Berhad will work together to perpetuate the BBGS legacy.
